Cannabis Plant. Ken Hardwick passed out a written update on
the cannabis processing plant.
Brief Update; A Site Design Review Application
was submitted to the city for its approval on building the cannabis plant. The
city rejected the application because it was incomplete. The city does not
expect the application to be re-submitted for its review for at least another
two months, perhaps longer.
Pilots Memorial Day Event.
Margaret Cleveland gave an update on the Memorial Day Event.
She reported that new volunteers are needed in
order to keep this ISAS sponsored event going.
Jeanne Wildman volunteered to be a co-chair with
CAP Major Paul Gilman for the 2017 event.
Salem Airspace. Chuck West
reported on the latest news concerning the Independence / Salem airspace. The
FAA is now on the third revision of the change and still does not have it
correct.
Comments to the FAA can be made on the internet
until August 14, 2016.
AERT. Al Cleveland gave a
report on the new emergency response team at 7S5.
New
Business
Airport Name Change.
The proposed airport name change was discussed at length by the board and the
airpark residents. The airport name change proposed was “Glenn Plymate Airfield”.
The group’s thought was no one wanted to take away the recognition of Glen
Plymate and others in the development of the Independence State Airport but
felt that the name of “Independence State Airport” should remain unchanged. No
one present expressed any interest in changing the airport’s name.
Airport History. The ISAS web site’s “Airport History” was
discussed. There are two versions around concerning the development of the
Independence State Airport. A motion was made by Gary Vanhorn and seconded by
Dave Ullman to have both versions on the web site until a committee can verify
and or rewrite the history. Chairman Hardwick appointed a committee consisting
of two board members; Gary Vanhorn and Dave Martin and two airpark residents;
Victoria Kruljac and Margaret Cleveland.
The committee will report their progress at the
next board meeting on October 10, 2016.
It was also suggested that a new picture of 7S5
would be a nice upgrade to the ISAS web site.
Stryker Road. Gary VanHorn
reported on a meeting with the city concerning businesses along Stryker Rd.
The attendees consisted of residents in the area
along Stryker Rd. This is not an ISAS appointed group. The thought is for the
city to review and enforce all city codes so all new developments will blend in
with the surrounding community and airpark. The City Council is onboard and
will facilitate a “stake holders” group to present ideas to the planning
commission and to the city council for its consideration.
Area

adjourned at 8:15 pm.
The next ISAS meeting will be held October 10, 2016
in the EAA Hangar at 7:00 PM.
