OLD BUSINESS
Airport Name Change.
The proposed airport
name change was again briefly discussed by the board. At this time no one
expressed any interest in changing the airport’s name.
Airport History.
The ISAS Airport
History Committee Chairman Gary Vanhorn gave an update on their progress. More work is still needed before updating
the airport history on the ISAS web site. Along with Vanhorn the committee
members are Dave Martin, Victoria Kruljac and
Margaret Cleveland. The committee will again report their progress at the
January board meeting.
Stryker Road Group.
Gary VanHorn reported
on the group meeting with the city concerning issues along Stryker Rd. The
group is trying to get the city to adopt new regulations and enforce all
current city codes so any new development (Cannabis Plant) will blend in with
the surrounding community. The City is having meetings for residents to attend
and present ideas that will be submitted to the Planning Commission and the
City Council for its consideration.
Cannabis Plant.
Residents continue to
attend the City Council meetings to express their displeasure on the
development of the marijuana grow and process operation. The City will probably
make a decision in early 2017 but at this time it appears the proposed
development is grandfathered and will be approved.
Pilots Memorial Day
Event
Jeanne Wildman
volunteered to be a co-chair with CAP Major Paul Gilman for the 2017 event. The
Board approved her position. Volunteers are still needed for the event. Contact
Margarete Cleveland to help.
NEW BUSINESS
7S5. A couple of issues were discussed. It was
noted that some pilots are departing at taxiway intersections. Departures
should only be from the ends of the runway. Pilots take note!
The Department of
Aviation said it would be fencing the West side of the airport in the near
future. They also said there will be no fencing along Airport Road.
Area Reports
IAHA gave a report on
the continued focus of taxiway maintenance.
North Park announced
its annual meeting will be held on Sept 25.
Dave Martin gave a
report on the recent OPA pancake breakfast. The club made
about $900 in spite of the very rainy day which cancelled the planned balloon
launch.
There being no further
business the meeting was adjourned at 8:15 pm.
The next ISAS meeting
will be held on Jan 12, 2017 in the EAA Hangar at 7:00 PM.
