IAHA Board Meeting

October 22, 2009

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by President Kelly.  Present were: John Horn, Kelly Wilson, Dave Martin, Robert English, Keith Moes, and Herb Jolliff.  Guest Rena Peck arrived later.

SECRETARY: Robert said the minutes of the previous meeting, July 23, had been posted as "draft" minutes on the web site and all had a chance to read them since then.  Keith made the motion to approve the minutes as posted.  Herb Jolliff seconded.  All approved by voice vote.

TREASURER: Keith passed out a quarterly report showing the balance effectively unchanged since the start of the year.  Legal fees and taxiway maintenance were the major items on the budget, and those were covered by homeowners dues.  There were no homeowners with dues owing.

The amount for the taxiway maintenance was questioned, as it seemed low, and it turned out that the work done was less than originally planned.  Eventually the taxiways will have to be given new paving, rather than the slurry coat and crack seal that we've been doing, but right now they are good and serviceable.

Keith said that he was planning to send out bills for next year's dues and ingress/egress fees by the second week of November, probably the 12th.  The voluntary collection of N-numbers of stored aircraft will be included, though that information is also on the FAA web site and can be gathered that way if need be.

There was a question about the interpretation of the new ODA agreement, regarding how much to charge (and who to charge) for the easement that was written into that agreement.  Keith said he would contact someone over at the ODA offices to clarify that.

ARCHITECTURE: The Matthews are expanding their hangar, and the contractor is driving down the side of the taxiway (not directly on it) going in and out.  Some discussion ensued, but no action was taken.

OLD BUSINESS: The property of Miles Towner is to have a lein put on it for non-compliance with IAHA CC&Rs because he does not have a pad or hangar on his property.   The proposed lein amount was for $4800.00.  A vote was taken to approve the motion, Dave Martin seconded and Herb Jolliff seconded.  All approved by voice vote.

NEW BUSINESS: The date for the yearly membership meeting, usually the first Sunday of December, is the same day as the OPA dinner.  After some discussion, it was suggested that the time be moved up one hour, to 1 PM, so that people can attend both events.

The members present were asked if they would continue for the year 2010.  Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer agreed to carry on for one more year, and Kelly Wilson had said that serving two years was enough: he will not be President in 2010.  Rena Peck was asked if she would like to be President and she said yes, so her name was entered as a candidate for IAHA President.  Alan Wright was considered likely to continue as Member At Large for next year, and Craig & Lynn as Maintenance chairs, but a new candidate will have to be found to replace the deceased Harry Malette as member-at-large.

Dave Martin mentioned kudos to Dan Clem to get the FAA off of our back before resigning from this post at the ODA.  Most of the feedback was regretful that he had to step down from his position, and that his presence had a positive effect on the aviation community.

ADJOURNMENT: Herb made the motion to adjourn and Dave seconded.  We adjourned at 7:27 PM.

Respectfully submitted by Robert English, secretary.
