IAHA Board Meeting
The meeting was called to order by President
John Horn at 7:00 P.M. Present were:
Craig Cowles, Robert English, Jim Kirkendall, John Horn, Kattie Altman, Dave
Martin, and John McCoy. Guests present
were Henry Bartle, Andy Andersen and Fred & Carol Krieg. Alan Wright and Louis Smith arrived later.
SECRETARY:
Dave Martin made the motion that the minutes be approved as emailed, and Kattie
seconded. All approved by voice
vote. Robert also gave a brief recap
about moving the ISAS/IAHA website over to the "Minet" servers since
Ashcreek Wireless doesn't seem to be interested in hosting the site for free
anymore. Minet has expressed interest
in hosting the site for free in return for promotional consideration.
TREASURER:
John McCoy passed around a quarterly report ending in October 30, showing a
cash balance that is nearly equal to where we started in January. Everyone has paid their dues and no one is
in arrears. The taxiway name signs are
now up, and there were positive comments about them. The power washer purchase, which is in addition to the old one,
was also on the sheet and Craig said he would go into greater detail about it
when he gives his maintenance report.
ARCHITECTURAL:
After a brief update about Minet getting their telephone service going within
the month, Jim passed out a list of current applications that have been passed
on to the City Building Inspector.
There was an easement agreement that had been prepared that the Kriegs
and Louis Smith needed to sign, which all parties present agreed to do.
MAINTENANCE:
Craig passed out a list which enumerated all that had been done on behalf of
the Association in the airpark throughout the year, including new signs (as
mentioned in the "Treasurer" section above), seal coating on three
taxiways (Skylane, Cherokee and Comanche), and the regular mowing and
spraying. Craig also explained what had
happened to the old power washer: how he had found the parts necessary to
rebuild it, and his announced policy to keep this old one as a
"loaner" while keeping the new pressure washer for cleaning up the
tractor. Craig also introduced the new
maintenance helper Henry Bartle. Henry
spoke up saying that he had a sign-making machine that he could use on behalf
of the Association if there is a future need for same. John McCoy asked him if there would be any
more expenses between now and January, and Craig said there might be some
diesel fuel but it wouldn't be much more than $20 worth.
MEMBERS-AT-LARGE:
Kattie and Alan had nothing to report.
Dave Martin addressed a rumor that had been circulating, that the land
west of the airport had been sold for an amount ten times the farmland value,
saying that numerous public meetings would have to be held in order to change
the zoning and no such meetings had been held or scheduled.
OLD
BUSINESS:
·
1) The signs are in Dave's house, and attempts
to dig post-holes for them have been difficult because the ground is very hard
right now, even for a power auger.
Concrete won't be necessary, just an adequately deep hole of two
feet. Dave said when he needed help he
would ask for it. There was some
concern about utility lines, and thankfully there are free services offered by
the companies in question to locate these.
·
2) Gail Hill has issued the new neighborhood
rosters, and they're great. Thanks,
Gail.
·
3) The ballot and the ByLaws addition which will
accompany it were passed around for discussion. This would be discussed further under "new business."
·
4) Dave started some discussion about Paul Cole
and his new fence which is twenty feet too close to the taxiway for the height
that it is (as per the CC&Rs Article 6 Section 2 which Jim Kirkendall
read). Henry Bartle said he knew Paul
Cole well and he would talk to him about it; Henry requested a deadline, and
the board suggested sixty days. Alan
spoke saying he had similar issues when he was president, and some folks had
said the centerline of the easement wasn't the same as the centerline of the
taxiway.
·
5) The Stearman Street collections issue has not
been raised by ODA since the head of administration has changed, so the
consensus was to let sleeping dogs lie for now.
NEW
BUSINESS: John Horn asked whether there were new people
to include on the ballot, and Jim Kirkendall said that the current vacancies on
the architectural committee needed to be filled: the consensus was that these
were appointed positions that did not need voter approval, and John Horn
recommended two people that Jim could contact.
The proposition was discussed, an explanatory paragraph added, and
Walt's Printing will print the ballots up this week.
GOOD
OF THE ORDER: Andy Andersen spoke up about the "airport
growth boundary" legislation on which he is soliciting comment, saying
that there had been some interest.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:05 PM. The next meeting will be the General Meeting
at Krumell's hangar on December 3.
Respectfully submitted by Robert English,
secretary.
